The accommodation was organized by the international office and we were informed of the arrangements from the very beginning.However my accommodation which was a students room was not up to standard it was extremely dusty, not well maintained and had to share washrooms with the other occupants in the students corridor. It was quiet noisy the very first night because the students had a party and I had to check out the next morning. booking.com is a good source to get better and relatively cheap accommodation in Stockholm. The cost of living is quiet high and I kept them down by having one meal a day preferred lunch at the institute cafeteria, buying groceries and preparing home made quick breakfast cereals and simple dinners.

The activities were carried out in both Swedish and English. Uganda is an English speaking country and all people with interacted with spoke English. signposts all over and at train stations had both English and Swedish.

We had a number of social activities for example a visit to the contact persons home, dinners, we always had lunch with our colleagues from KI. They recommended places for us to visit and booking.com had good recommendations of place to visit while in Stockholm.

We had sturdy visits to the unit for teaching and learning, the Ana Futura lab and a private specialist center. In terms of research we had a meeting with the head of internationalization in dentistry where we discussed ways to continue the collaboration between Makerere and KI. We had discussions with PhD candidates, we had a dinner and meetings with several prominent researchers and the vice president KI. More collaborations can be held using digital platforms for example trainings, seminars, meeting. Due to issues with funding Makerere needs to explore other sources of funding for example through the ministry of health government of Uganda and any other organization that supports health.

I got to know about the opportunity through our Dean School of Dentistry and at the time she was the international coordinator and had been there before as part of the 8 years collaboration between Karolinska Institutet and Makerere University comprising 2 weeks teacher exchange and 8 weeks students exchange. The KI international office sent us an email guiding us on how to register and the requirements needed for the trip and our two weeks stay. The preparation on our side was getting the documents needed ready applying and getting the visa. Regarding language there was no issue because Uganda is an English speaking country and all our interactions happened in English. The other important to note and prepare for was looking at the weather forecast coming from a hot country i had to prepare and get warm clothing for the season of September which was fall. It was an extremely life changing experience.

The teaching activities included mostly clinic time we observed students in the clinic with patients, pre clinical students with mannequin heads and the use of the simulator. The clinic time is very similar as our students have clinical time as well most difference come in when it comes to the modalities as Karolinska institutet has more and better technologically advanced equipment and devices fore ample simulator and the ratio of students to mannequin heads is high so they don't have to work in pairs or turns. In regards to the teacher/student relationships, the student teacher ratio is high at Karolinska institutet where as the student teacher ratio at Makerere University is low. We did not participate in any coursework, lectures or seminars.

We mostly had meetings with teachers and other KI members of staff. We had 5hrs for 2days of touring the clinic and the laboratory and learning about infection control in the clinic.I personally had 7hours 2days a week of observing clinical teaching activities.
