Arrival and registration

The introduction day was really well-organized because they gave us a lot of informations about our work, clinical rotations and also about Stockholm.

Acommendation

We applied for house through the UAC and they arranged for us a student room. It's a little bit expensive, but you have all the necessary furniture and stuff you need and you can live with other students and share your experience.

Leisure time and social activities

I meet a lot of swedish people and they have been so nice to help me to have every information about swedish life and activities.

Roadtrip med kompisar

Pre-departure

I decided to go on exchange to see another reality of the nursing process. When we had to make a choice, Stockholm was my first one because everybody told us about the KI and how it was good. Both the italian Erasmus Office and the swedish one gave me all the information about my period in Stockholm and they have been really kind in answering every question.

When i arrived in Stockholm, i brought with me my vaccinations-book and the only test they wanted was the MRSA-test.

Courses during the exchange period

SSKX02 : Somatic nursing, surgery - Clinical education 1

i learned to do a lot of activities and nursing techniques like PVKs, drenages, urine catheters, nasogastric sonds and so on. Nurses were kind and interested on knowing the differences between Italy and Sweden

SSKPED01 : Child and adolescents health care - Clinical education

I learned to understand children feelings and their experience in the hospital. They teach me how to make a child felling responsible and making small decisions even in they are less than 18 years old.

SSKX01 : Somatic nursing, medicine - Clinical education 1

The training in cardiology was interesting because i tried to understand the differences between medicines for each kind of heart problem and the way to follow-up patients. my responsible-nurse was very nice and she tried to explain me everything.

Summary

I loved this exchange program at KI in everything and i would like to do it again.

In the future i think that i would like to work somewhere abroad because this kind of experiences open your mind.

Language and Culture

We started the swedish course after the introduction day but after twoo weeks we stopped it because of the shifts in the hospital. The course was interesting and nice and most well-organized.

Studies in general

I came here only for doing clinical rotations: i learned a lot of new things from them even if the biggest problem was the language. We couldn't speak Swedish, so i tried to speak English everytime i could both with the supervisors and the patients. I enjoyed the way of planning every kind of action for patients and i think that in Italy we have to develop a lot of activities and most the way to think about it.
