Arrival and registration

On arrival at Arlanda airport, i was surprised to find some one waving a paper with my name in capital letters ETYANG, This was great. she helped us with carrying some luggage, paid the bus fee and escorted us to our hostel. Next day, we were taken to the student health center for MRSA screening and here we met another jolly nurse who carried out the investigations.

Acommendation

The housing arrangements were good. i booked my students room at UAC while still in Uganda, it was very spacious and very clean with a clean kitchen

Leisure time and social activities

Because of limited time, i didn't participate in social programs but i made very many friends and visited many places in Stockholm

Pre-departure

I chose KI because of prior knowledge i had about it, for example i wanted to see physically the place where noble prizes in sciences are given. our home university also has a partnership with KI so it would be easy for me to process and run the required documents. the exchange information given was so adequate, we were even given Stockholm maps before arrival so it was easy for us to move on arrival. we were not required to bring vaccination certificates although we had to go for MRSA screening before starting our clinical rotations

Courses during the exchange period

AT1X01 : Community and Home Based Rehabilitation - Cultural Perspectives
It was a nice course, i met students from many different countries and learn t about community and home based rehabilitation which i hadn't done in nursing
SSKX01 : Somatic nursing, medicine - Clinical education 1
During this clinical education, i got a chance of rotating at KI solna and appreciated real nursing

Summary

My exchange period was a blast, i enjoyed Sweden much and appreciated the nursing care and general education system.

Language and Culture

No,

Studies in general

Studies in general were good and fun, we had nice teachers from different parts of the world, nice spacious classrooms. the teachers were friendly and interacted freely with the students. fika breaks made the whole learning process marvelous. I learnt  from the sweden education system that a teacher doesn't have to be rigid and tough for his students to pass
