Arrival and registration

The Pick-Up service was fantastic.  Having someone meet me and help me buy a train ticket and have my key to student housing made all of the difference.  It was a very smooth and stress free arrival.
For the student health center, I went to get MRSA testing on the morning of my first day.   I had some difficulties finding the building, but the testing was quick and easy.

Acommendation

I stayed at Pax and applying for housing through UAC was easy to do.  The housing was reasonably priced and perfectly acceptable.  It was very nice not to have to search for my own housing.

Leisure time and social activities

I went to Skansen through global friends.  I also met up with a swedish resident outside of work and went to dinner.

Pre-departure

I chose to go on an exchange to get broaden my medical education.   I have spent 3 years learning from patients in the US medical system, however I realize that that is not the only way to practice medicine.  I think it is important to develop an understanding of how other healthcare systems function.  I chose KI because my medical school has an exchange set up with them, I had an interest in studying in Sweden and KI has an excellent reputation.
I thought the exchange information given was very helpful from both my school and KI.  I did not need to be vaccinated before arriving.

Courses during the exchange period

ELA001 : Dermatology and Venereology 1
My dermatology course was excellent. I learned quite a bit through observation and self study. The quality of the course was outstanding, I was very pleased with the teaching and the experience. I would recommend the course to anyone.
