Exchange report - incoming students
Home university: University of Toledo
Study programme: Occupational Therapy
Exchange programme: INK
Semester: Spring semester 2012/2013

Arrival and registration

It was really nice that I could get into Jägaragatan even at the late hour when I arrived. The orientation day was fine.

Acommendation

The housing was a pretty standard dorm. It would have been nice to know where I was placed for my clinical before I applied for housing, as making a different selection would have substantially reduced my commute time

Leisure time and social activities

I did go to one international students event, and talked a little to the people on my hallway. However, all the students I interacted with were foreign, so I didn't get an opportunity to make any Swedish friends

Pre-departure

My program has a contract with KI so that student can go abroad. I was excited by the opportunity to do part of my clinical study abroad.  The information I received was basically good and timely, although it would have been good to know that I could get the student discount transit card with the temporary student card (even though I was only briefly at Karolinska)

Studies in general

My metro and the whole department were great at making me feel welcome and helping me understand what was going on. I was able to interact which many of the patients, to greater and lesser extents, but almost always had the chance to debrief after a session.
