Pre-departure

KI is a top rated medical university, especially its biomedical program. Many of KI’s courses encompass not only theoretical lectures, but they also present a variety of methods and practical projects that my home-university cannot provide yet. KI has an excellent mixture of inspiring research and academic courses. This mixture offers vital interaction between scientists and students. The institute provides a well-coordinated research network and an extended infrastructure for international students. Furthermore, KI enjoys an incredible student to professor ratio. The small number of students (6000), and the more than 300 professors who work there, ensure that the students and professors enjoy a close professional relationship, thereby providing an exceptional work environment in a field where cooperation and coordination are crucial to any project or class’s success.

- possibility to go on exchange for a full year is included in my studies

- living abroad for one year is a huge challenge I wanted to encounter

Courses during the exchange period

BIOX05 : BACH - Infection and Immunity
- theoretical lectures with high quality - practical courses in one block: good to get used to everyday lab-work - high variety of teaching-methods - short-term changes in schedule should be avoided - seminars helped to remember the learned theoretical facts
BIOX06 : BACH - Integrative Physiology
- good choice of topics - teachers were experts in their fields - well-planned practical courses with good supervision
IEE073 : BACH-Biomedical project for exchange students
