Arrival and registration

Once in Stockholm, everything felt like an adventure. The introduction day was the perfect moment to meet other students and create new relationships for the exchange and further.

Acommendation

I stayed at Flemingsberg and, in my opinion, it is the best place to stay if you are looking for comfort. The only "bad thing" about it is that it is not so close to the city centre, but with the commuter train it gets easy to travel though the city

Leisure time and social activities

KI students make a lot of events where the exchange students can participate. However, personally me and my friends preferred to make activities on our own.

Pre-departure

Karolinska Institutet is known as one of the best medical universities on the world, reason why I decided to make my exchange here. The information provided was clear and easy to understand.

Courses during the exchange period

ELAXX6 : Surgery 1
In plastic surgery I had the opportunity to help the surgeons and learn a lot while they were performing the different surgery. By far my favorite rotation
ELA005 : Internal Medicine 1
Due the situation with Covid-19 there were a lot of restrictions on what I was able to see and do. However, my supervisors were really kind and taught me a lot of new things that will help me as a future medical assistant
ELAXX6 : Surgery 1
Upper GI surgery was really interesting. However, due the complexity of the procedures they perform, there is not so many things to do or learn.

Summary

Definetly is one of the best experiences. KI gave me the great opportunity to learn, meet new people and enjoy what Stockholm can offer to the visitors.

Language and Culture

I did not participate in any Swedish language course

Studies in general

Both swedish students and teachers were really kind, if I needed any help they were there to help me. I had the opportunity to learn a lot from my supervisors and see new things. For example, the microvascular procedure in the breast reconstruction surgery was something completly new for me and helped me to decide that what I like more is definetly surgery.
