Exchange report - incoming students
Home university: Universitetet i Tromsø
Study programme: Dentistry
Exchange programme: Erasmus
Semester: Spring semester 2010/2011

Arrival and registration

That was great!! Everything was set and planed out, so we just went from one place to the other, and got lots of information. I felt very welcome and was impressed how everything was so well set.

Acommendation

I first came to a student housing where it was a very bad sigarett-smell. That was pretty horrible, but after talking to the woman in charge of the accommodation, i got to move to an other room. I was very happy about that!!
There's no other complaints of the accommondation when it comes to standard and price.

Leisure time and social activities

No, i didnt participate in any social activities arranged by the Global friends, but that is actually a good sign; there was lots to do anyways. Stockholm is a fantastic city, where its impossible to be bored.

We were four students from my home university that went to Stockholm together. We had a lot of fun together, but I think thats one of the reasons why we did not make too many sweedish friends.

Pre-departure

I chose KI because we could only choose between 2 places, and I really thought Stockholm and KI sounded very exciting!
We got great information before we came to KI, both when it comes to where to stay and what to do and where to go when we arrived Arlanda. I think all our questions in advance were answered!

Courses during the exchange period

ETL002 : Child and Adolscent Dentistry - Odontology
Good atmosphare at the clinic! I had a lot of fun and the teachers were great! Only in child dentistry I think it was difficult to have kids, because they did not understand me.
ETL001 : Comprehensive Care - with subject specific courses
I really liked that the clinic was devided into different appartements where you had specialized theachers within every subject.

Summary

Thank you for a great time in Stockholm and at KI!!!
I only stayed for 3 months, I wish the stay would have been for a whole semester. 3 months is a bit short, especially when it comes to patient-treatments.

Language and Culture

I was pretty surpriced in the beginning how difficult it was for the sweedish to understand norwegian, but the language-problems got better towards the end of the stay.

Studies in general

Great! Great! Great! I really felt welcome, all the teachers wanted that we got to do as much as possible. They and the rest of the staff was very helpful and nice. It was fun to go to school!!

The biggest different between KI and my homeuniversity, is the way the clinic is organized. That theres different appartement for differtent speciality, and that you have the opportunity to get extra-passes.

The biggest problem was actually the language, almost no one understood my norwegian..
